About Us

We operate each weekday from 7.45am – 4pm, term times only.  We have 4 members of staff, all qualified level 3 and above. We offer non funded places from the age of 2 – 5 years, including 2 yr funding (depending on eligibility), 3 & 4 yr universal funding, and 3 & 4 year old 30 hours extended entitlement funding (depending on eligibility). We also accept childcare vouchers from different schemes.

At Somerville we offer a welcoming stimulating and friendly environment, where our children have the opportunity to develop and learn through their play. We provide a broad and balanced curriculum following the Early Years Foundation Stage 2021.  We plan and provide activities depending on our children’s interests and their individual needs which are linked with 7 areas of teaching and learning.

Our experienced staff have a wealth of knowledge and experience to enable children to meet their individual aspirations. Our activities are planned to allow children to take the lead in their own learning and develop their imagination, this enables children to show their energy and enthusiasm through adult and child led activities.

As it is important to us that we work in partnership with our parents, we share the children’s development through an online system called ‘Tapestry’, parents can view their child’s learning journey through observations, photographs and report’s, created by their key person.  Parents also have an opportunity to share activities and adventures by uploading photographs and comments to their child’s milestone’s.

Our Aims

We provide an environment which enables children to develop at their own pace, grow in self confidence, enabling them to become independent, motivating and ready to learn, when they start school. We provide a wide range of activities where children have the opportunity to extend their knowledge, through exploring their ideas in a safe caring and stimulating environment, this enables them to learn whilst enjoying the company of other children and adults.

We encourage children to develop an understanding about caring for the natural environment, building a natural inquisitiveness towards nature and wildlife. We are positive about diversity and respect and value children individuality, celebrating all festivals and special days in all cultures. We value strong partnerships with our parents to ensure they are fully involved in their child’s learning and development, to ensure that all their child’s individual needs are met progressing them to achieve their aspiration.
